Annette Hatch Nichols, Alto

Annette started playing the violin when she was 4 years old – “nails on a chalk board!”  By the time she was in the 9th grade she decided to quit her violin lessons and started singing and has sung ever since. She performed for three years in the choirs at Highland High School and from there she went on to sing with the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers at Dixie College in St. George, Utah. Subsequently she joined the A cappella Choir and Chamber Choir at the University of Utah, where she sang with gifted conductors she had only “dreamt” of working with.  Annette received a degree in Music Therapy at Utah State University while singing in the choirs there. She then moved to Washington DC and while working as a music therapist she sang with Oratorio Society of Washington under Robert Schaffer.  After returning to Utah she completed a graduate degree in Special Education and joined Utah Chamber Artists in 1996.  She had been looking for a superior choir and found that singing with Utah Chamber Artists “filled her soul.”  Annette is married to Bob Nichols who has “only missed one concert in fourteen years.  (He is still waiting for the Beatles medley!)” She has a beautiful daughter named Abigail and 3 wonderful step-children that keep her busy.  She also has 3 grandchildren that she delights in and enjoys every minute that she gets to spend with them.  Annette teaches special education at Eastwood Elementary and spends her free time quilting, gardening, lunching, working with the young women from her church, reading, and shopping.
