Jared Gunnerson is both a vocal and instrumental musician. His first vocal solo was at the age of eight for his local church congregation. Also as a youth, Jared studied flute with Karen Perkins and later with Susan Goodfellow at the University of Utah, winning regional and national competitions with the Utah and National Flute Associations. It was during his years with the Brighton High School A’Capella and Madrigal choirs that he first fell in love with choral music. Later, as a university student, he sang with the University of Utah Concert Choir, A’Capella Choir and Chamber Singers. After graduating in 1995, he auditioned for the Utah Chamber Artists and performed, toured and recorded with UCA until 2004. At that time he took a six year leave of absence and moved to Las Vegas. While there, he was the Music Director of the Lone Mountain Stake Choir and Orchestra. In 2010 he moved back to Utah and resumed singing with UCA. As part of his UCA experience, he has performed with the Utah Symphony and the Boston Pops. Jared has also moonlighted as a back-up singer and vocalist with a number of artists and musicians including Keith Lockheart, The Chieftains, Kurt Bestor, Elaine Paige, John Schmidt, Jenny Oaks Baker and the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. During his professional choral career, he has performed under the direction of Barlow Bradford, Craig Jessop, Bernell Hales, Jerold Ottley, Dale Warland, Paul Salamunovich and Helmuth Rilling. Jared currently resides in Bountiful with his wife and four children.
